NFL Draft 2017 Prospect: Jeff Savage IV

Name: Jeff Savage IV
College: Louisiana Monroe
Position: Offensive Line
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 311

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Jeff: Intelligent, Confident, and Crafty.

Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Jeff: I’ve been training at Traction Sports Performance in Baton Rouge, LA under Mack Chuilli, Former NFL Safety Ryan Clark, and Former NFL Center Todd McClure. They’ve helped me prepare physically and mentally for what’s coming in the future.

Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?

Jeff: It’s hard to pick one because I watch a lot of different guys and learn stuff from them. I really like Rodney Hudson from the Raiders! He’s a guy that’s really efficient and doesn’t over power a lot of guys, but is so smart that he finds ways to beat people. My other guy is a former teammate of mine, Josh Allen. He’s a guy that I’ve pulled so much info from personally and he’s always teaching me new things to put into my game!

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

Jeff: I try to watch a whole game first to see the different players that played in that game and see what the offense they played against felt comfortable doing. Then I’ll watch some specific D&D stuff to get a better feel for the front situationally. I’ll get in some blitz tape and some 3rd down tape to see if there’s any tells at all to let me know what’s coming and what guys go to moves are.

Q: What separates you from other players at your position?

Jeff: My last two years I’ve been in control of all our protection adjustments and it’s been with two different coaching staffs and three different QBs and they all felt confident enough in me to put that on my shoulders. I’m also a chatty player and most OLinemen aren’t. I’ve never had a problem with letting defensive players know when we’re having our way with them. I had two older teammates, Joe Treadwell and Demeire Burkett, that really made it fun to play like that and I’ve seen Trent Williams play like that, but that’s really it.

Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Jeff: On the field, I’m intelligent and vocal and those are leadership qualities. I also have not had a lot of trouble learning playbooks in the past. Off the field, I’ve never been in trouble and I consider myself well-spoken and I’m very family oriented.

Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

Jeff: I only need one team to give me a chance! I want to make the other 31 teams wish they did!
