Malachi Broadnax: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Malachi Broadnax
School: Missouri Southern State University
Position: S

Height: 6’3”

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My goal for this season was to be all conference and possible all-American.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

I believe the extra year of eligibility gave me an opportunity to showcase my ability to play the position at a high level and create a foundation for my team for years to come. I tried to use this year as a statement year and I feel like I did that with me only have been playing defensive back for 2 years due to me being recruited as a quarterback and playing that position for my first 2 years.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

They would say that I am a high level high IQ player who understands situational football and can play at any level needed. I pride myself on being a leader for my team and I feel as if my coaches and teammates knew/understood that about me.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

I mostly focus on the tendencies of the offense in terms of play calling, and body language as well. Body language tells you a lot about a team and what they are about to do. once I get a grasp of that, I focus more on tendencies of play calling within down and distance so I can have a good idea of what they’ll run in game.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

VERSATILITY!! Absolutely my versatility first but I feel like my IQ and my Will to win separates me from a lot of people that play my position. I understand the game well, and further than that I understand myself well which helps me play at a high level. I know how to put myself in the best position to make a play and most importantly I know how to put my teammates in position to make plays.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

Right now I am planning to work with Rod Jones, a former NFL cornerback for the Cincinnati bengals, someone who I’ve trained with since I was about 14/15, to help me better prepare and train for my professional career.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I know one thing I will bring to a team on and off the field is leadership. That is one part of my character that I cannot hide. I’ve been blessed to have the charisma of a leader all my life and It is just in me. I also feel that my winning attitude both on and off the field has brought me far in life. Everything is not about winning but if you have that attitude It brings a different bit of positivity towards anything you do.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I just will say give me the chance and I will show any team, any coach, and any program as a whole, that I belong there and that I can be an positive asset to them as well!
