Lee Pitts: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Lee Pitts
School: University of Sioux Falls
Position: DB
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 200

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

After Covid cancelled the 2020 season, and after my school cut the football program, my goal was to get back to playing football again. Starting in all 11 games this past season for a new school was a major blessing and was my main goal for my final collegiate season. Now that I accomplished that goal I am working to accomplish whatever is next in my football career.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

I was able to get another year in the weight room to get bigger, faster, and stronger. Every year since I got into college I have improved in the weight room and an extra year of eligibility helped me to become an overall better athlete.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

Coaches and teammates would say I’m a student of the game and a disciple of discipline. They would say I’m the first one in and last one out of the facility and always working to be the best player I can be to help my team win.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

The first thing I look for is formations and what type of plays teams run out of certain formations. The second thing I look for is the alignment of the wideout, the alignment can often suggest the type of routes he can run. A third thing I look for is how wideouts run routes. Some receivers telegraph their routes and if I can pick up on that with film study I can give myself an advantage.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

Football IQ and technique helps separate me from other prospects at my position. DB is one of the hardest positions in football and my analytical approach to the game for sure helps separate me from other pro prospects.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I have been training hard and consistently since the beginning of January for my Pro Day. On top of that I have been doing DB drills to keep my skills and technique sharp. When opportunity presents itself, I’ll be ready.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My main attribute both on and off the field would for sure be perseverance. Football has taken me on a wild journey and no matter what I always push forward and control what I can control. Another strength of mine would be mental toughness. I am constantly training my body to perform at a high level but one of my strengths for sure is my mental toughness, and being able to handle the highs and lows football brings.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I come from a family of NFL lineage, and I’m prepared to dedicate every aspect of my life to contributing wins to whatever team signs me.
