Kobie Beltram: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Kobie Beltram
School: Eastern Michigan
Position: LB
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 230

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I had a lot of goals. I wanted to be the leading tackler for my team. I wanted to be all conference. and I wanted to play in a bowl game. All of those goals I achieved. I led my team and was 13th in the nation in tackles. I was 3rd team all conference. And we played in the quick lane bowl in Detroit which was an amazing experience. To be able to basically play a home game for a bowl game was a feeling I will never forget.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I believe my teammates would call me a true leader. I was only at eastern Michigan for 2 years and in my 2nd year I was almost voted a captain which goes to show how much trust I was able to gain from my teammates in such a short time. My coaches would call me a work horse. Everyday I put in extra work in the weight room or running extra conditioning. I would watch extra film daily on my opponents to be able to find any tendency I can to excel on game day. At our team banquet, my teammates and coaches voted for me for the “Committed to Excellence” award.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I watch film, I try to find any tip I can. Whether it is a linemen lightening up on his hand when he going to pull or if the receiver is tightening his split to come across the field or where the running back aligns in regard to the QB. Every detail is broken down during film. My position coach, Neal Neathery, really taught me how to watch film when I got to EMU and I have been approaching the game from a whole different perspective ever since. He would always tell us that “Knowledge is Power” and that we should be grinding out film time daily.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

What separates me is my desire to work. I refuse to be outworked. Im not a freak athlete. I got to where I am through hard work and dedication. Ask any one who has ever had the opportunity to have a workout with me. I set the pace. I push others around me. I’m conscious of the details in everything. As well as my work ethic, I am a true leader. I got my teammates to another level when they would be in conditioning and workouts. I motivate them to push themselves to the next level. When a play would need to be made they would look to me. Like I said, I’m always focused on details. The little things make a difference when you get to the next level and I’m always very aware of them.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

This offseason I trained with Marcus Malu of Malu Fitness, who was my trainer growing up through High school. He’s someone I consider more than just a trainer but also one of my mentors. I have also been training with Mike Neal of Real Neal Sports to focus on my speed. Everyday we are working to improve and right now the results are showing.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

What I will bring to the team is a play maker. I find ways to get to the ball. I’m a natural leader. My energy is contagious. I’m very smart on game day and can recognize plays before the ball is snapped. I bring others around me to a higher level. I’m extremely coachable. I’m a durable player and I have never missed a game in my life. Off the field, I have a good character and love to help the community. When I was home, I would help out with toy drives for Christmas and food drives at thanksgiving time. I loved doing community service when I was at EMU and doing anything I can to help out.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL/CFL or any other pro leagues?

My final pitch is that I am a true football player. All the fancy stuff of training is cool. But when the pads come on and we’re in between the lines, I will not stop until my opponent is defeated. I put everything into winning. I make others around me better. I’m always positive, no matter the situation and I am always going as hard as I can every play. I don’t care who it is that across from me. I want to beat them every play and let them know that. Come and get me if you want a difference maker on your team.
