Josiah Erickson: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Josiah Erickson
School: Sacramento State
Position: OLB/EDGE

Height: 6’2”
Weight: 225

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I wanted to be a first team guy, have double digit sacks, and plus 15 TFL’s. I ended up not only earning first team but I became an All American. Recorded 10 sacks and 19.5 TFL’s.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

Having two years to train for my final season really helped me transform my body and helped me perfect my craft. I really emphasized on mobility and having a strong core which elevated my game immensely, which I know will translate to the league.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

A front liner. A player you want to go to war with. A leader by example that plays with relentless effort.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

I study my opponents formations, schemes, & tendencies. I try and have a good idea of what the play is before the ball is snapped. Finding my opponents weaknesses and try to use them to my advantage.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My versatility. As for position I’m a linebacker/edge with a nose for getting to the ball. Able to set the edge and rush as well as drop into coverage. I’m a difference maker on special teams by using my fast and physical play.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

Since January I have been training for pro day in Tempe AZ, at Transfer Society with my trainer Dwight Pete. After pro day I will continue to train until I get that phone call.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I always hold myself to the standard of being the hardest worker in the room. My effort is unmatched, I’m a ball player, and am a very instinctual player. I’m a leader on and off the field & most importantly to me a man of God.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

Any team looking for a player that day in and day out will give everything they have to the organization, have an immediate impact, and make the other people surrounding me better, I’m your guy.
