Jared Leake: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Jared Leake
School: Hobart
Position: CB

Height: 5’11”
Weight: 190

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

For the season I wanted to help lead my team to a conference championship and a big run into the playoffs. I wanted our defense to be ranked as a top defense in the country, which I believe we were. Personally I wanted to be a first team all conference, first team all east conference selection, and finish as an All American. Unfortunately I wasn’t select as an All American but finished with first team all conference and 3rd team All east selection and ending just short of all American.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

I took advantage of my extra year of eligibility by taking my senior fall off from campus and stayed home to train with my trainers @aim precision. I continued my academic education by taking classes remotely.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I believe that my coaches and teammates would say that I’m an extremely hard worker. I’m always looking to improve by constantly asking questions and frequently watching film with them to slow the game down and be able to compete at a high level and speed. I would also think that they would say I’m always willing to help my teammates either on or off the field.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When studying film there are certain things that I look for that will improve my ability to play. I study for nations, plays, abs styles if the receivers and quarterbacks. I closely pay attention to the characteristics of receivers that I make it so I can identify the routes they may run. When examining my own film I study my own body movements and how I would be able to make myself a step faster in each situation.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I believe my IQ and understanding if the gabe delegates me from others. I am a quick study, knowledgeable about the game and understand different concepts, which helps me make quick decisions when I play.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

After the season ended, I moved to Maine for two months to fully prepare for my pro days. I train with Trevor Coston who played professionally in the NFL and The Canadian League @aim precision. After the pro days are completed, I plan to return to Maine for the summer to continue to work on my craft.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I believe one of my best strengths is my strong mental approach. I hold myself at a high standard and know that I have a lot more to prove and achieve. On the field I believe teams will see that I have a good IQ, Size, Strength, and the ability to play at the next level.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL/CFL and any other pro leagues?

For any team that gives me a shot I’m going to bring everything I have and prove that they were not wasting their time.
