Name: Hunter Cantrell
School: Tusculum College
Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?
Some of the goals going into the season was to be the best punter in the South Atlantic Conference and have the best net punt average in the nation.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Consistent, Accurate, and Dependable.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I have already started my training to get ready for the next level. I have been working with Kohl’s professional kicking as well as Dan Orner Kicking and Punting to take my punting to the next level. I will also attend the Zauner and Kohl’s combines in the spring to show my talents against the top in the nation.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
When I study film on a returner I look at how far they stand from the line of scrimmage as well as which hash they are on when it comes to returning it. Most returners have a hash they like returning on and I try to make them as uncomfortable as possible to help my gunners out.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
What separates me from other punters is the strength and my ability to put the ball anywhere on the field to help the coverage team out. Also, my Aussie punts going into the end zone help me pin them inside the 20 and also inside the 10.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
One of the strengths I will bring on the field is being able to put the defense in a good position to make plays. Off the field, I’m involved in my community, so getting the support of the community is something I can help with off the field.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
My final pitch would be that I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make a team successful and I will do anything to put the team first. From punting to holding, doesn’t matter what the team needs me to do.
