Denzel Keyes, who also stared on the the Aggies basketball team, made his name known at North Carolina A&T as a redzone threat. At 6’4″ 215 pounds, Keyes recorded 25 touchdowns in his career and led the Aggies in receiving touchdowns for three straight years. This feat has Keyes as the all time record holder for touchdown receptions. As a multiple time All-Conference player, Keyes is looking to prove he has what it takes to compete at the NFL level when he goes up against a collection of the top players in country.
Q: How have you been preparing for the game on Sunday?
Denzel: First and foremost, I put God 1st and give him all the glory. Then, I focus a lot on learning the plays because it’s a lot thrown at us in a short period of time and I just go out there and practice hard every day! Also, taking in what the coaches say because they have been where I’m trying to get !
Q: If you were talking with a scout, how would you pitch yourself?
Denzel: When talking to a scout, I think I separate myself when I talk about my faith in God, and my work ethic being a two sport athlete and a chemistry major and starting in both sports.
Q: Why did you decide to play in the Dream Bowl and what do you expect to get out of it?
Denzel: I decided to play in this bowl game because it was one that I felt I would feel more comfortable in because the guys that are here are in the same position that I am coming from, a small school, and trying to fulfill their dream in playing professional football.
Q: What is your best memory playing football?
Denzel: My best memory in playing football is when I caught the game winning catch against Kent state, because we went in the game as underdogs and we came out with the win.
