Greg Brooks: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Greg Brooks
School: Fayetteville State
Position: C/OG

Height: 6’2”
Weight: 308

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

The biggest Individual goal I set for myself was to be an All-American. I received a couple All-American honors at the end of the season. The biggest team goal I had was to win the conference championship, and sadly we fell short of that goal.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

I believe I took advantage of this extra year by increasing my knowledge of the game and taking the extra time to fine tune my technique and style of play.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

They would say that I am a guy that leads by example. I’m a selfless player that always has the teams best interest at heart. I come to work everyday to get better in every aspect of my game.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When watching myself I focuses largely on my technique. I look at my hands and my feet first. I look to see if I’m using the proper steps dependent upon the type of play and the scheme. I look to see if my hand placement is good; if they’re inside of the defender or not and if they’re too high on their shoulder pads. I also look to see if my pad level is proper and if I’m finishing my blocks. When I watch my opponent I look at how they play their opponents and their tendencies, I also study their opponents feet, hand placement, and pad level as well.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I believe my attention to detail and my work ethic is what separates me from other prospects at my positions. Centers usually are the second smartest if not the smartest player on offense and I believe I fit that mold. Also my attention to detail helps me make the proper calls and ensure that everyone on the line is working as one unit; It makes me an overall better player.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I’ve been training at Will Bradley Sports Performance in Greensboro, NC. I’ve been training for a pro day there and I’ve seen great improvements in my overall athletic ability.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I will bring leadership and character that will represent any team off the field the same way I represent my families name. On the field I bring my attention do detail, my athletic ability at the center position, and my understanding of the game.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I’m a guy that has had to overcome obstacles in sports and to do that all I’ve ever done if work by butt off. I will continue to do that until I no longer can, and I will approach everyday with that mindset. I have the qualities and characteristics of someone who can come into a program and make an impact. If you decide to take a chance on me you won’t regret making that investment.
