What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My main goal was to win a national championship, but unfortunately, that did not happen for us this past season. Coach Don Beebe instilled in me to always train, practice, and prepare to accomplish the highest desired outcome possible. With that being said, I am very proud of the accolades that I earned as a player and a leader for my team. My highest honors were being named a two-time Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a two-time finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy in Division III.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

The extra year of eligibility gave me another opportunity for me to perfect my game. I really concentrated on breaking down opponent game film focusing on their defensive tendencies in down and distance situations. Meeting daily with Coach Don Beebe allowed us to be on the same page as we prepared and executed our game plan. I believe I increased my chances of going pro by making better decisions and understanding that you do not have to force things to make a great play. Sometimes, it is better to throw the ball away to give your team another chance to make a play on the next down. Throughout my career, I have always focused on becoming the best version of myself. I have always found ways to improve my game and take it to the next level.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would say that I am a humble, hard-working, and dedicated leader who is always looking to improve my game. Coach Don Beebe has said that I have all the intangibles to play at the highest level despite my size. I have been very fortunate enough to be surrounded by great teammates and coaches that have believed in me and my game.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

Being a quarterback, I’m looking through a lot of different lenses when watching film. First and foremost, I am my own biggest critic when evaluating myself. I am constantly looking at my footwork, throwing mechanics, and my read progressions. I have learned to not only look at my mistakes and try to correct those but also evaluate my successes. By seeing how I have done something correctly, it allows me to focus on replicating those actions during practice when training for game situations.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My experience, preparation, arm strength, decision-making and my ability to extend plays are all things that separate me from other prospects. Being a 5-year varsity starter at Aurora University has allowed me to grow into the quarterback I am today. I have seen many different defensive fronts and coverages and have learned how to make adjustments to navigate and manage the game at a high level. Talent-wise, I can make any throw on the field whether it’s a dig over the middle, comeback from the opposite hash, or a 60 yard deep ball. Being a quarterback, you need to carry certain qualities. My leadership, dedication, and love for the game are all qualities that I possess that has helped develop me into the player, leader, teammate, and competitor I am today.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I am currently working with FLYRYT Performance. My personal trainer, Eric McElroy, has trained me over the past few years. I’ve been able to add muscle mass while still improving my speed which showed during my last two seasons. He has taught me a lot about how my body works and I am very thankful for what he has done for me. I continue to work on my footwork and throwing mechanics as I train with a group of receivers at an indoor facility in hopes of attending some combines and a Pro Day.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My commitment, loyalty, and professionalism are something that I will bring with me to an organization both on and off the field. I am a man of high character and carry myself that way. No matter how things are going, I stay true to who I am and will lean on my faith.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

Don’t dismiss me for my height. Accept me for all the things that I listed above in the previous questions. Give me an opportunity and I will not let you down. You will love what I have to offer your organization on and off the field. Just remember, someone gave Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, and Kyler Murray a chance and how did it end up for them? Someone definitely looked past their height, you can do the same.
