Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

I set personal and team related goals for myself each season. I achieved my weight goal, personal record weightlifting goal, and of course the goal is always to remain healthy. In terms of the team, we strive each season to attain a national championship. I’m sure that coach Anesse has a plan ready to be implemented that will take the team to the DII National Championship. I’ll be rooting for them.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

I am coachable, I practice hard and I play harder, I am positive, tough minded and that I want to win!

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

First I look at the defensive ends. Then I study the teams defensive schemes so that I can recognize the coverages and be able to adjust.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I am a grinder that doesn’t care much about the pay check but more about securing my spot on the team and doing what I have to, to help my team win.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Various hand working drills, and working on my footwork to be at my best come camp time.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

A humble athlete that will gain respect on the field and be a great public figure for the team.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

If you are looking for someone who will grind from the beginning of camp until the end of the season look no further. Devon Johnson is your guy.
