Dedrick Strambler: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Dedrick Strambler
School: Northwest Missouri State University
Position: SS/FS

Height: 6’3”
Weight: 210

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

Transferring to a new conference arguably the toughest in D2 and making all conference, winning conference and making a run for a national championship. Although we came up short we went 3 rounds being the farthest I’d ever been!

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

I transferred from D3 to D2 to Northwest a D2 powerhouse and I showed I can play at a higher level in hopes of helping me get to the next level!

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I am a leader, relentless, a winner and I play with extreme effort. Off the field I’m the first to help and a servant.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

Consistent pad level/good technique and understanding route schemes faster to help me play faster! Also understanding what every other position on defense is doing to use that to my advantage and knowing where help is.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I can get in the box and fit the run. I can also sit back and be a ball hawk. I can come down hill really quickly and make plays on the perimeter run and screen game. I will fly down on special teams and do whatever the team needs me to do to be successful at the end of the day.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I am currently in PA training At Grossetti Performance with Terry Grossetti and Kyle Piper, draft prep specialist. Putting in work day in and day out so I can shine at pro day. They have taught me tons of stuff I knew nothing about when it comes to testing so I’m thankful for that and it has been a great experience thus far.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I am a winner, even when I lose. I never look at a loss as I’m losing, it’s a lesson and you learn from them. I am a natural born leader since a kid I always seem to attract others to want to be around me just because of who I am on and off the field. I work hard and want success from everyone. That’s for on and off the field. I’m everyone’s biggest fan and I am passionate about everything I do in life.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I’ve been counted out my whole life. From playing B team in middle school to going D3 and finishing at D2. All I’ve ever needed was a chance and to get the right eyes on me. People who know me know I work hard at everything I do and will never take no for an answer, I just keep going. Ultimately wherever God wants me that is where I will be whether that’s playing pro ball or not. All I do is control what I can control and give the rest to God. All I need is one chance and I’m running with it. God willing I get that chance!
