DeAndre Farris: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: DeAndre Farris
School: Western Kentucky
Position: DB
Height: 5’9″
Weight: 195

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

This past season unfortunately I did not accomplish the goals that I set out for myself. I was named team captain by my teammates and coaches. I believe that I helped my teammates become better versions of themselves on and off the field.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

My coaches would say that I am a Headsy Player, Aggressive at the Line, Stays in Phase, Good feet, Trust My eyes, Natural Cover Corner, Good Burst out of my breaks, Know when to look up for the ball. Aggressive Finisher Pesky.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I am studying film the things that I focus on to improve my game are the details that we were coached to improve by our coaches. Eye placement, being patient at the line of scrimmage, my tempo while I’m in my pedal, and how I come out breaks are things that I look at. Watching my opponent is something that I watch as well, WR tendencies off the line, how they come out of breaks, body language before plays, and what route concepts I may see out of certain formations, down and distances.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I believe that the things that separate me from other defensive backs are how I pay attention to the small details of the game. When players emphasize the little things it allows them to make more plays down the stretch. Being detailed is very essential to being a great defensive back.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Right now I am currently training at Corey Taylor Sports Performance in Louisville, KY. I am working towards having a great showing at pro day on March 20th. Afterwards and even in the off-season I plan to be with Corey Taylor, I believe that he does a great job of getting the players he works with ready physically and mentally for whatever is thrown at them.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

The strengths that will stand out to a team that I posses are the will to always get better, the leadership qualities that I have, and always making other people around me better players and people.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I want NFL organizations to know that they would get a very hard worker, a high character guy that loves winning and hates to lose. And will also do whatever it takes to help the team be successful.
