David Niehaus: 2018 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: David Niehaus
School: University of Cincinnati
Position: Center
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 298

Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?

I wanted to be all conference and win a bowl game.

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Physical, smart, instinctual.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I worked out 6 days a week with running every day.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

When I study film, I look for tiny details that give away tendencies of the defense. For example, if a d lineman puts a his left hand down when he is crossing the face of the center vs. his right hand when he is playing straight up.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

What separates me from other players in my position is my technique and my ability to diagnose a defense. I did not give up a sack all year and I could recognize different blitzes from film study on the field and alert our offense.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

The strengths I will bring to a team if given a chance are intelligence, technique in pass pro, run blocking, and my work ethic. Also, my instincts help me react to anything the defense does.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

My final pitch to NFL and other scouts is that if you want a guy that will help secure your interior line and has the smarts and technique to be a high caliber player, pick me.
