Name: Darvin Kidsy
School: Texas Southern/North Texas
Position: Wide Receiver/Kick Returner/Punt Returner
Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?
To be the best Wide Receiver in the SWAC and to be the Best Receiver I know I can be. Lead the FCS in Yards. Also, to become even more consistent and a technician in my route running.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Quick, Smart, and Consistent.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Well, Track has already helped me with my speed. I will also be working on maintaining my speed and explosiveness at the top of my routes. I will continue mobility training, so that I will excel and play at a high level for a longer period of time.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Of course, I look at tendencies. I look at how the opponents defense plays against a team with the same style of offense as ours. I also look at what coverage the defense and their secondary do well in and what coverage they don’t do well in. After I examine the defense as a whole, I break down the secondary individually, then go in the lab and get to work.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
My versatility and my returning ability separates me. While Playing the Z position in college, I was able to excel in playing slot and work outside as well. As a receiver, I am willing to make a cross field cut off block. I also have short term memory on a not so good play.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I can bring excitement and energy to a team. At any given moment, I can make the big play or I can make that tough catch for a first down. Off the field, I love helping kids get better in sports because I was once that kid.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
My final pitch would be that I am a competitor and I am a fan of the game. I am willing to play any position a team would need me to play to win games.
