Dane Roy: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Dane Roy
School: Houston
Position: P
Height: 6’7″
Weight: 230
Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
To relax and have fun. I used to worry myself out on the field and every now and then that would cause a bad punt. This year every time I went out to punt I was excited and relaxed and it showed in my best season. I wanted to be the best punter in my conference and I was not only that I was special teams player of the year.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
Try to do everything right and stay out of the way at practice. When people start to notice specialists, usually it’s a bad thing. Haha. I’m a good leader for the younger guys.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
The returner we are facing the next game and how the team rush the punts. Then work on that at practice to beat them.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
You can’t teach size. I’m big and can hit a big ball consistently. I have that natural ability to punt.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Currently in Melbourne (thanks COVID19) training with Prokick Australia and getting PT sessions with a fitness Guru at Pulse8 getting myself in the best position to continue my career as a punter.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Mentally Strong. Consistent leg. Here to do the job and stay out of the way.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
I’m younger than Sav Rocca and Ben Graham when they were rookies and they played for years!
