Name: Dalvin Simmons
School: Central Arkansas
Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?
I didn’t reach the goals I wanted finishing up my college career. I have a passion for the game and I feel like that just added fuel to my fire by not reaching them. I feel like I have more to prove and that’s fine with me.
Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?
They say me more as a run stopper. They would also say I was savvy and knew my technique and the game.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
I focus on what I can do better. As far as my hand placement, foot work, technique, and my eyes. Not taking the eye candy. Always read your keys and you’ll be right. I also study the opposing team’s offensive line. If they give any tendencies on certain plays, are they sitting back ready to bail out on pass, does he have slow feet, does he expose his chest, different splits and alignment, etc.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I think my knowledge separates me. I’ve had four different position coaches throughout my college career, so I picked up a lot things from them. Putting all the things together I learned from them, really helps me on the field and in the film room.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I’ll work the most on my explosion. That’s an area I want and need to improve. I’ll also be working on and studying the linebacker position more.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I’ll bring versatility. I’ve played several years on the defensive line, but I also know I can play linebacker. Quickness and willing to learn is something else I’ll bring. Dedication and my work ethic will also come along with that.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
A humble hardworking young man. Versatile, so I can be used where needed. Just looking for a shot to showcase my talent.
