Name: Chris Richardson
Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
The number one goal I had set for my final collegiate season was to be conference champions. We did not finish conference champions but every workout, every practice, every play, every game I went out with the mindset of being a conference champ. Another big goal of mine that I did complete was to become an all conference safety I reached my goal and finished my season with 94 tackles which led my team and landed me 4th in the conference in total tackles. I am a team oriented player and everything I do is for the team so I took it personal to reach our team goals every game.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say that I am a very passionate player who loves the game and that I will always do the right thing on and off the field.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
When studying an opponent I look for the plays that a team runs the most. I also look for tendencies in receivers and the quarterback. These tendencies can be as small as how a receiver comes off the line when it is a pass or run play. I also look to see how a receiver runs his routes to see what moves he does on certain routes.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
My knowledge of the game and versatility. I can learn a defensive play book quick and also play any position on the back end including nickel.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I plan to attack the weight room and the field getting faster and stronger. As well as mental training. What I mean by this is take a deeper look in the game learning defenses ran by NFL and CFL teams if I can learn a defense before even signing to a team I am already ahead of other players signing.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I am a great open field tackler and a hard hitter at that. I’m not afraid of contact and I have amazing athletic ability and I’m willing to do anything for the team . I also have the will and want to to outwork, out play and outthink my opponent I dedicate myself for the betterment of the team and winning.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL/CFL or any other pro leagues?
I have the size speed and athletic ability to play in the NFL. I am versatile and can learn and learn a defense quick. I am willing to play on any special team. And do anything for an opportunity I will outwork anyone I’m put up against not only on but off the field.
