Cameron Watkins: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Cameron Watkins
School: Vanderbilt
Position: CB
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 208

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My goal for this year was just to prove to myself and everyone else that I could play just as good if not better in SEC as I did in the Big10 and I think this year proved I could hold my own in both conferences.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

Kind of a utility piece and somewhat of a teacher. I have been the “old head” in the room for a while so it’s always been up to me to kinda shed some wisdom on the younger players.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

I try to look at where I was beat or if I had a bad day in practice I try and see what mistakes I made to ensure that I’m not doing the same stuff over and over and creating bad habits.. I’m my own biggest critic and that helps when I’m diagnosing problems from practice or a game.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I think what separates me from other prospects is that I have literally played every position in the backend and have real game experience at all of these positions so I’m prepared to play anything a team asks me to.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I have been training at boost fitness club and they have done a phenomenal job preparing us to take the next step towards are professional careers.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

On the field my biggest strength is my ability to be a fast learner and my ability to adapt to different situations quickly.. off the field my biggest strength I believe is my desire to help the communities who need it the most. We are given such a large platform as athletes and I believe at the very least we can give back to the communities that are close to us because they deserve it and need it.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

My final pitch is just that I am a no nonsense hardworking kinda guy and I will work to be the guy a team wants me to be on and off the field. Also the fact that I have played in arguably the best two conferences in college football and excelled in both I believe shows I can be of use at the next level.
