What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

One goal that I accomplished was I wanted to take an underclassman under my wing and be a mentor for him. I showed him our offense and the ropes of being a collegiate athlete. I took a lot of pride in mentoring him, and I made a friendship and created a bond that will last a lifetime

Another goal was to win the Big 12 championship. We did not accomplish this goal, but our team made great strides, and I believe the Cats are on their way to winning a Big 12 title in the coming years.

My academic goal for the year was to get First Team Academic All-Big 12 and to finish with a 3.0 accumulative GPA when I graduated, and I accomplished both.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would call me a gritty player that works hard. I think they would also call me a great teammate on and off the field. I always had my teammates’ backs, no matter what.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When I study film, I break down my technique. I look at my pad-level, footwork, and hand placement on the defender. I break those down and correct my mistakes. I also look at the defensive fronts, players, run/pass pressures, defensive linemen stunts, and coverages that I will see.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

Something that separates me from others is my background playing different sports and the athleticism and coordination required to be successful at those sports. Sports like basketball, baseball, and golf have made me a more athletic football player.  Another thing that sets me apart is my determination and grit to never give up and fight through adversity, no matter what.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I am training in Fort Myers, FL at a facility called X3 Performance and Physical Therapy. They have the best of the best when it comes to equipment and staff for training, nutrition, position work, and recovery.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I am bringing a hardworking and dedicated player on and off the field to whatever team chooses me. I have great people skills and I’m very easy to talk to. I enjoy meeting new people and building relationships with them. I am also a quick learner and can adapt and adjust easily to change. Finally, I’m coachable.  I want to improve and want to win and will listen to feedback to make that happen.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

You’re not going to find someone that works, studies, or prepares harder than me. I’ve waited and prepared for this moment my whole life, and I will do whatever it takes. I’m a dedicated athlete and ready for this chance.
