Bailey Flint: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Bailey Flint
School: University of Toledo
Position: P/Holder

Height: 6’4”
Weight: 220

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

One of the biggest goals I set for myself in my last season wasn’t even completely geared towards football, I wanted to leave a lasting legacy on the city of Toledo so that there would be room for another Australian to make the journey to America and get the same amazing experience! I feel that I did this and some with not only there being another Aussie punter for the coming fall but also the community outreach I was able to complete in my last year was exponential! This outreach is in terms of my community service and the impact I was able to make on people in the 419.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

This was an absolute blessing for me because in 2019 I suffered a season ending injury that was a very long recovery, what became a blessing in disguise was Covid hitting right as I was getting into the meat of my rehab. Unfortunately i did not bounce back as quickly as I would have hoped and the 2020 short season I was never fully back. I didn’t realize the role my plant leg truly played for me till then! Fortunately, we got the year back and I got to play this last season and return to a much better place both mentally and physically within the sport!

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I believe that they would call me a high care guy because I’m totally bought into the team and the standard. So much so there may be some guys that wouldn’t speak highly of me because I wouldn’t conform to breaking the standard.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

As a punter we aren’t always expected to watch much film but I personally do and I love it. I like to watch over my own kicking but also watch film on other punters that have a similar swing to me. Other than that I would watch film on the PR team to key any major signs should we have been rolling out but this past year we didn’t do that much at all!

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I whole heartedly believe that as punters we can only be so good. There is a limit but nobody has reached it. I think that often times the intangibles are a much larger impact on a locker room than some may believe and I think that my intangibles as a player and a man will separate me from the rest when I walk into a room.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I moved to Southern California to train out here in the sun, be able to punt just about whenever I need and work with some of the best trainers in the business. I have been fortunate enough to spend time working with kicking coaches such as Nathan Chapman as well as Nick Novak and then also continue to optimize my performance with the help of Tara at Motus and Chris from Biotrek. All the while working with my close friend and S&C coach Aristotle Hua. I have incorporated a lot of new things in my program that have helped me grown exponentially in my kicking game and I’m excited to show scouts and coaches when the opportunity comes my way.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

As a team captain in college I can bring the same attention to detail and standard that has carried me this far, I work well with others so will be able to learn much from the veteran players and help grow with an organization that sees the future in me.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I would just like to say that I can’t wait to hopefully gain the privilege for an opportunity to compete and represent myself, my college and my country for an organization in the near future!
