Name: Anthony Amison Jr
School: Defiance College
Q: In your final collegiate season, what goals did you accomplish this fall or set for this upcoming spring?
My goals I set for this spring were to get over 1,000 yards, no drops, to catch every contested ball, and at least 8 catches a game.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say I’m a great competitor. Will win every go ball, one of the best blockers on the team, great route runner, sure hands, and they’d say I always have a positive attitude.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
When I’m studying film, I look right at my technique. I’m watching my releases, how I need to stay low being a taller receiver, my hand use *clubbing*, my route running, and the way I get out of my breaks making sure I’m not drifting. I look to see if I’m using my eyes to deceive the defender and I watch my technique when I’m blocking, making sure I close up space quickly, staying low with a good base and driving.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I believe that I am faster than a lot of the other prospects at my position, I know my vertical is higher than most prospects. I am just as strong as the other top prospects, I can run every route just as good as the top prospects, I believe my ball skills and tracking ability are better than a lot of the other prospects, along with my blocking ability, I know I can block any DB.
Q: What is your plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities, especially with the virus limiting pro days/training facilities/etc?
I plan on stretching a lot, working on sprints, my route running and getting out of my brakes, more fluidly. Attacking the ball while it’s in the air extending my arms looking the ball all the way in. Line releases. I plan on doing these things outside at a park/track.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
The strengths I would bring to a team on and off the field is professionalism, a positive attitude and I’m going to work hard and pay attention to detail. On the field, I believe I can run every route a team would need me to run. I can run under every deep ball and go get contested balls. I will lay out for the tough catches. I believe I have the ability to run by defenders, get in their blind spots and win routes with my eyes. I can line up anywhere on the field and I believe I can make every catch that is thrown my way low and high. I will make every block good enough for the runner to get by. I believe I bring speed, the ability and timing to attack the football and quickness.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL/CFL or any other professional leagues?
To every NFL team, you will get a player who will seize the opportunity and who I believe will be a huge asset for making a Super Bowl run. I believe I have fully developed as a wide out and believe I have what it takes to help a team win championships.
