Andrew Owczarzak: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Andrew Owczarzak
School: Martin Luther College
Position: OT

Height: 6’5”
Weight: 300

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My number one goal was to become a better person. Football is a game that teaches life lessons. I wanted to take advantage of those lessons and become a better person from them.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

I used my extra year to showcase my skills. I wanted to prove to coaches and scouts that I have the ability to go to the next level. I also used it to pick the brain of my great coaches. My offensive line coach is a genius and I wanted to take advantage of having him as my position coach so that I could reach my full potential.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

They would say I am intellectually stronger than most players. My knowledge and feel for the game are second to none. It allows me to take advantage of weakness of my matchup and also of the entire defense when making line adjustments.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

I look at a few different things. My pad level, my footwork, my speed off the ball, and how I finished my block. For me those are the four most important things that go into each play as on offensive lineman. Even when I felt I played close to a perfect game there was always something to improve on in those four categories.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My passion to be the best leader and player I can be. I love to not only constantly work on my game but help everyone around me work on theirs. I’ll constantly be working hard whether on the field. in the weight room, or in film study. I will constantly be driven to be the best at everything I do.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

Continue the training that put me in the position that I am today. Lifting everyday with conditioning that focuses on footwork, strength and speed.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Play recognition is my biggest strength, whether it be for stunts or for blitzes. My size and speed are a huge plus, my coaches have always told me I have great feet for my size. Off the field I strive to bring people together. I love hanging out with my teammates and making great connections which only improve our on field connection.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

To take a chance on me. Small school guys don’t get big time chances, but I’m worth the chance. I will work my absolute hardest to make sure it is worth your while to bring me in. I just need one shot.
