Andrew Jamiel: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Andrew Jamiel
School: Stonehill College
Position: WR/RS
Height: 5’10″
Weight: 175

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

1) Contribute to my team as much as possible, to try and fulfill our team goal: Win the Northeast 10 conference.
2) Be an all-conference player for the 4th year in a row.
3) Be a good captain, and raise the game of my other teammates by setting the bar high everyday.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I think they would say my dedication to the game is like no other. They know I put everything I have into this game, I’m humble, competitive, and I’m NEVER satisfied with success.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

Like any good receiver, I zone in on defensive backs and their tendencies, picking up things that will help me have success in an upcoming game. In terms of my own film, I take the constructive criticism from my coaches, Dad, and brothers, and build off of it. On top of that though, I love watching other guys who play my position. NFL receivers, or any developed receiver for that matter, watching them run routes and being able to pick up on some of their moves, and why they have success on a certain play/route is a great way to learn and get better. Some of my favorites are Stefon Diggs, Mike Thomas, and Julian Edelman.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I’m a gritty, hard worker. I focus on my technique, and I’m always coachable. From a football standpoint, I would say my route running, I think that is the strength of my game. Being able to understand route concepts, leverage, breaks, etc. Also, making tough, contested catches as well.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I’ve been training at Exceed Sports in Westborough, MA. They have a great track record of professional players, and a great facility. I played in a D2 All-Star game in Myrtle Beach recently, and am currently preparing for the College Gridiron Showcase in Fort Worth Texas on January 3rd, which will be filled with great competition. After that, I will continue training for upcoming Pro-Days.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I know that if I am on the field, I can consistently make plays when my number is called. I value being a great teammate as well, and embracing the opportunity to play on a team with other guys that all share common goals.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

Just because you’ve never heard of a guy, doesn’t mean he can’t play. All I need is an opportunity to show that I can ball.
